BBC Announces Doctor Who Spin-Off Series Called “Class”
A friend sent me a link today to the BBC Doctor Who website, announcing that BBC3 will be making a series aimed at teens, called Class. It says, “Class is a YA series set in contemporary London.” We’ll get to meet “the heroes of Class”.
Well, hang on. I’d better just assemble my huge legal team to deal with this. Get Jerry off the golf course, I need him here now. The BBC aren’t going to know what’s hit them. Wales isn’t far enough my friends, keep running!
I’m joking of course. I don’t even know anyone called Jerry. And actually, Class sounds like a great idea for a series. Doesn’t it? A really great idea for a .... I don’t know ... book series with maybe some spin-off films :-) Class. Class.... Hmmmm. Not a bad name. It’s ok. Just needs something else, doesn’t it? Not quite as catchy as, say, Class Heroes...!
Seriously, though, it sounds great. The Doctor Who universe continues to grow and family audiences everywhere are all the better off for it. Regular readers of my blog will know how much of a Doctor Who fan I am. You’ll find the occasional Doctor Who-related piece in Classified, and the banner art for this website was created by renowned Doctor Who artist Andrew Skilleter, fact fans.
So it will be interesting to see how the series pans out. I think we can be fairly sure that with an author like Patrick Ness on board, and Steven Moffat producing, it’s going to be pretty darn good. Of course, if they need any help with regards plots, story arcs, characters, or even filming, I’d be only too happy to help out these inexperienced amateurs.
Can’t wait. It’s due to be filmed in Spring 2016, so I expect it will be on screens late next year. Here’s the full article.
